Winter in Taiwan

Winter is the shortest season on the island, roughly between December and February. Even in winter, temperatures in the tropical south of Taiwan are still pleasant, with temperatures averaging as high as 25°C in January and 20°C in north-central Taiwan .

But every winter there are several cold winter that can drop temperatures to around 37-53 3-10℃, which can wreak havoc on crops .

What festivals are there in Taiwan in winter from November to February:

The Lunar New Year:

The Lunar New Year is the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar, generally in the middle and late January of the Gregorian calendar. The lunar calendar is the largest annual festival in Taiwan and the longest holiday.

Lantern Festival:

The Lantern Festival falls on January 15th of the lunar calendar, that is, the 15th day of the New Year. Traditionally, the New Year is not over until the Lantern Festival is celebrated. During the Lantern Festival, each city will also choose a theme to hold its own celebrations. For example, the Taipei Lantern Festival will be filled with many modern-designed lanterns. The Kaohsiung Lantern Festival is held along the River of Love. There are both traditional and modern lanterns on display. The lanterns will spread to both sides of the main road near the celebration site. The Pingxi Town Sky Lantern Festival in the suburbs of Taipei is one of the largest sky lantern festivals in the world, where thousands of sky lanterns are displayed on the night of the Lantern Festival.

What festivals are there in spring in Taiwan from March to May:

In spring, the temperature rises slowly from cool to warm. The average temperature in daytime is expected to be 25°C. The rainy season has not yet come, however the cherry blossoms and rhododendrons in the mountains are already in full bloom. It is quite good to arrange a hiking trip or outdoor activities.

The beaches of southern Taiwan start to warm up enough for swimmers.

Cherry blossom viewing in high mountain areas:

Mazu International Festival:

Mazu International Festival takes a week-long around March each year. It aims to promote the worship of Hai Mazu among believers. It holds in central and southern Taiwan. The most famous Mazu detour held in Zhenlan Palace in Taichung, Taichung.

Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival:

What are the festivals in Taiwan from June to August in summer:

From June to August are the hottest and most humid months in Taiwan, with average temperatures rising to 35°C and possibly even 38°C. It is also the rainy season, if it rains, the weather will become cooler.

When there is no rain, the hot summer is very suitable for walking in the mountains. Compared with cities, mountains above 1,000 altitudes are much cooler. There are many forest trails in Taiwan. The weeks-long Balloon Festival is held from June to August every year in the eastern Taiwan city Taitung, filling the skies with all manner of hot air balloons.
