Fanshuliao, also well-known as East Coast National Scenic Area, a unique canyon also regarded as a small version of Taroko Gorge. Then we will visit Shitiping, a marine abrasion platform with coral reefs and potholes that extends for 1 kilometer parallel to the coast.

Shitiping

Shitiping is situated at the 65-kilometer point on the coastal highway. It was formed when volcanic rock worn smooth by sea erosion and was uplifted in layers that resemble stone steps-which is the meaning of Shiti.

Sanxiantai

Sanxiantai(literally meaning terrace of the three immortals) is composed of offshore islands and coral reefs. The most famous landmark is the cross-sea bridge, which connects the mainland and the island.

Amis Folk Center is a cultural center that introduces the custom, architecture, art and music of the Amis – an indigenous people of Taiwan. Here you will experience the lifestyle of those who live by the sea.

East Rift Valley National Scenic Area

After breakfast, you will travel along the East Rift Valley, a long and narrow valley extending from Hualien to Taitung. The three natural river systems include Hualien River, Xiuguluan River, and Beinan River running through the valley and creating different types of land forms.

Luye Highlands

The first stop is Luye Highlands, with an elevation of 350 meters. The unique geographical conditions offer an ideal location for tea cultivation and paragliding. Then you will have a relaxing short bike tour along Mr. Brown Avenue.

Dongshan Mr. Brown Avenue

Mr. Brown Avenue is famous for the TV commercial of Mr. Brown Coffee (a local coffee brand). The “avenue” is a single-lane pathway in the middle of the green paddy fields. Takeshi Kaneshiro Tree is a Toog Tree growing beside Mr. Brown Avenue. The tree is famous for one of the EVA Air TV commercials starred by the famous Taiwanese-Japanese actor – Takeshi Kaneshiro.

Matai'an Wetland Ecological Park

Matai'an Wetland Ecological Park is located at the foot of Masi Mountain, which is the biggest natural wetland in Hualien and also the traditional homeland of the Amis.

Taroko National Park

After breakfast, you will visit the world-famous Taroko National Park. From the archway entry to Tianxiang, this 12.5-mile (20-km) section of Zhongbu Cross-island highway winding through the steep marble cliffs and tunnels of the gorge will make you deep impression. Here you will experience the power of nature’s masterpiece and mankind's great engineering achievement. The national park was well-known for the soaring cliffs and plunging valleys of solid marble carved by a torrential river. Zhongbu Cross-island highway is a narrow and winding mountain road made by carving out rocks and connects the west side of Taiwan to the east.

Shakadang Trail

First, you will take a walk along Shakadang Trail or Lushui Trail, where the Liwu River is running beside you. This river has cut through the marble over millions of years and created the deep, narrow gorge.

Changchun Shrine

Next you will stop by Changchun Shrine, where commemorates the 226 military veterans who died during the construction of the Zhongbu Cross-island highway. If the weather permits, you will take a walk through the tunnel below the shrine.

Swallow Grotto Yanzikou Trail

Before lunch, you will walk through the tunnel of Swallow Grotto, where you will enjoy a stunning view of the cliffs reaching up to the sky. The potholes on the cliff surface were created by the groundwater and the rapid stream of the river. In the past, they were the natural nesting location of swallows; hence it got the name Swallow Grotto.

Cimu Bridge

After lunch, you will stroll around Cimu Bridge (Motherly Devotion Bridge). It is an H-Shape hanging bridge built of marble by late President Chiang Jing-Guo in memory of his mother.

After a breathtaking tour of Taroko Gorge, you will stop by Qingshui Cliff and admire the scenery of the cliff coastline.

National Center for Traditional Arts

National Center for Traditional Arts,also called Center for Traditional Arts, is located inthe Dongshan Riverside in Wujie Township, Yilan County. There are many DIY experiences and traditional folk skills in the park. It is adorable for family members or couples dating in Yilan.
